The Life of Poker Great Joe Hachem
A Peek Into The Life Of The 2005 WSOP Winner Joe Hachem
The aspiring and somewhat surprising winner of the 2005 World Series of Poker, Joseph (Ha-Shem if pronounced in Arabic) Hachem was born in Lebanon in the year of 1966. Joe and his family decided to move to Melbourne , Australia when he was just a mere young boy during the early years of the 1970's, and he still lives in this beautifully landscaped area of the Aussie country to this day.
Hatchem is one of the very few of us that was fortunate enough to be able to marry his high school sweetheart, a woman by the name of Jeanie. He met Jeanie when he was at the very young age of 15. Friends of the family introduced them to each other when she was just 12 years old.
This well-known and popular couple has started a family of their own as they have shared the birth of 4 beautiful children that range between the awesome and fun ages of 11 and 16. When Joe isn't enjoying traveling, which he loves to do, he is enjoying precious time spent with his family that he loves so much.
Until the year of 2002, Joe enjoyed being able to work at a career as being a well-liked chiropractor. He worked at this profession for 13 years. Unfortunately at this time Hachem was diagnosed with having a rare blood vessel disorder that affected his ability in using his hands well enough to continue working, something that he of course would have to be able to use if he were to continue his career as being a chiropractor.
After he retired from his career, he decided to take a little bit of time off to evaluate his future plans. During his time of evaluation, Hachem became a mortgage broker. This is also when he began playing his hand at poker. He began either playing on online poker sites, such as PokerStars.com, and you could also find him playing cards at the Crown Casino that was located in Melbourne . If Joe wasn't either online or found at the Casino, then you could possibly find him at his small brokerage business that he ran in the town of Pascoe Vale .
Hatchem had started dabbling in poker during his teen years, but the Crown Casino wouldn't tempt him to try his luck there until the mid 1990's, after watching the movie called ‘Rounders'. This is when he finally decided that he wanted to start playing his luck at the Casino.
The practice he had put into the game of poker and his interest in the game started proving to be a big asset to him in 2005. With $10,000 in tow, his brother and his cousin, Hachem went to Vegas entering Event 37 in the WSOP where he took 10th place and $25,850.
Hitting the big time less than two weeks later, July 15th proved to be his lucky day when he won $7.5 million playing the $10,000 World Championship. This was quite surprising to many as he began the game with one of the worst starting hands in history.
After becoming a millionaire, Joe and his family enjoy traveling to international tournaments around the world.
